Strukton; Korean Superlink

National Geographic Channel; Megastructures
Sunday 25 September 2011, 21.00

Sunday 25 September 2011 around the clock of 21.00, there would be the world wide premiere of the National Geograpic programm "Korean Superlink" on Dutch television. For the first time in history there would be a programm of Megastructures which is telling about a civil engineering project abroad which will be performed by a Dutch company. Structon Civiel is proud to be that company.

National Geographic Channel International talkink about Megastructures "Korean Superlink": 'A nation that never constructed an immersed highway tackles the challenge of building the deepest one on Earth. Everything about the project is super-sized. Each of the tunnel's mammoth segments is as long as two football fields and as heavy as an aircraft carrier. Yet all the segments must align within 35 millimeters -- less than a thumb's width. To compound the challenge, all work has to be timed around the fickle weather of the Pacific. And the tunnel itself must be able to withstand earthquakes and typhoons. Engineers will have to invent a raft of ingenious solutions - including a robot-like crane straight out of Star Wars.'

If you want to read more about this project (in Dutch), click here.

So watch it all; National Geographic, Megastructures: Sunday 25 September 2011, 21.00

Lustrum Gala Dinner

Thursday 19 May

Today: the last Lustrum activity. The Grand Final: The Lustrum Gala Dinner!

The evening started wonderful; the sun was shining on the sea, the wind wasn't blowing that hard and the Beachclub looked very nice and peaceful. Slowly there were people coming; students, phd'ers, sponsors (from which we got presents for our Birthday: Thank you so much!) and teachers, with or without partners. It was nice to see all those people (OK, maybe not all the people because of the dates..) with the same passion: Geo-Engineering. When everybody had arrived, it was time to sit around the tables. After some nice words of our Chairman, the dinner started. Delicious. After two courses the table switch was there, so that everybody could talk with some other people also. It was nice, time flied, nice live music was playing and after the Grand Desert it was time to stand up and enjoy some nice (free) drinks, even while some of the visitors have had enough already.. Around 00:00 it was time for the students to find the Touring car, and some of us went on partying in Den Hague. When the last party animals touched their bed around half past four, everybody dreamed about this evening, I'm sure!

First of all we want to say to everybody: Thanks for coming. Without you all the evening wouldn't be such a great event! Thanks to Beachclub People for the wonderful location and the delicious food. Thanks to Krashna for the wonderful live music. And.. Just want to say that we had a GREAT evening, and we hope you enjoyed it too!

Because everybody wants to live this night over and over again, we made some nice Pictures!

Lustrum Bowling Night

Tuesday 17 May

Today was the second Lustrum day! While our Lustrum Poster said there would be a Geo-quiz, we decided to play some nice Bowling with some of our dear members! It was an awesome night, with party hats, lots of Strikes and Spares and a nice "little people dinner" with Fries and Apple sauce!

We had some nice prices to give away! First there was Ana, who won the price for "lowest score", and then there was Joris who won the price "slowest Player". Then the real winner of the day, Britte, who won the price of "Highest score" with 148 points! And last but not least, there was Lianne: she has won the cup! Just because she's Lianne..

Of course you want to see the photo's we made on this wonderful event. Click here!

Witteveen+Bos business course Fehmarn Belt

1 June 2011
